Sustainable Communities Forums

Sustainable Communities: Linking Education to Action Youth Forums stimulate youth engagement in sustainability activities. The Forums connect youth with local government, business and community sustainability leaders to support them in the development and implementation of action projects in their school and community.

Teachers are provided with the resources and skills they need to integrate local sustainability issues – from the environmental, social and economic spheres – into their teaching, and support their students in undertaking sustainability action projects.

Sustainable Communities Forum Goals

• To increase awareness and understanding of local sustainability issues among teachers, students, business, local government, environmental and community leaders
• To facilitate the sharing of local sustainability success stories and tools
• To empower students to take authentic action to create a more sustainable school and community
• To provide a "real world context" for the environmental and sustainability expectations in the curriculum
