Initiatives

Envisioning

AESDWG used the “Envisioning Process” to engage the Alberta community interested in ESD to build a vision and work plan. Utilizing the “Envisioning Process,” specific modes of listening and questioning were used to generate and share images of a future for education in sustainable development. The process combines the best of personal conviction and collective action. The goals of the “Envisioning Process” included: developing the elements of a shared vision, forming groups with common themes, creating action plans, and proposing a structure for doing the work that has been identified as important by all of those participating.

Work plan 2008 Highlights:

  • Consistent Alberta ESD language to incorporate into organization’s messaging.
  • A “Design Charette” to plan for the construction of a Carbon Neutral Ecovillage.
  • Building bridges between formal, non-formal and informal education sectors.
  • Leadership training for communities on citizenship, peace, and ecoliteracy education
  • Website Development on Alberta ESD initiatives
