Success Stories: Worming away at food waste!

The Holy Family Green Team in Chapel Arm, Newfoundland, has been busy doing their part to help the environment through composting.  The school’s green team is made up of a group of grades 5 and 6 students who are passionate about waste reduction. Kids World of Energy Festival

On Tuesday LSF attended the Kids World of Energy Festival, put on by TREC Education at the Brickworks in Toronto, Ontario. We did workshops with 5 grade 5 classes around the importance of energy conservation. The students actively discussed issues associated with energy consumption, and then did audits of small appliances using watt meters. Success Stories: Creating an Ecotastic Lip Balm!

Last year, the eco-team at Alexandra Muir Public School in New Market, ON, created a natural cleanser as part of their EcoLeague grant from LSF. That project was so successful that they applied for the grant again this year in order to make a natural lip balm at their school! The eco-team is comprised of about 70 students in grades 3-8.
